Miami is well-known for its pulsating nightlife scene and vibrant, colorful atmosphere, but it also offers great ways to get some fresh air and relax outdoors. Here at Carl’s Van Rentals, we offer the perfect way to get into and all around the city quickly and affordably. Here are a few ideas of places to burn off some energy, enjoy nature, and see a different side of Miami.

Explore the Outdoors Near Miami

1. Canoe or Kayak at Oleta State Park

Just 30 minutes from downtown, Oleta State Park is Florida’s largest urban state park. In addition to canoeing or kayaking through mangrove forests, this park offers biking trails, picnic areas, hiking trails, and more. The park is open from 8:00 AM to sundown; vehicle fees apply.

2. Rent a Quad Bike at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park

Located at the southern end of Key Biscayne, this state park features stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. For the best views, climb to the top of the historic 1825 lighthouse. Take it all in as a group on a rented quad bike as you ride along the 1.5-mile paved pathway. Larger quad bikes that seat four adults and two children are also available.

3. Visit Everglades National Park

From riding through the swamps on an airboat, to bike riding through Shark Valley, to camping, Everglades National Park is the ultimate stop for all outdoor enthusiasts. Just don’t forget the bug spray! Visiting right now, during the dry season that runs from November through April, means fewer mosquitoes, lower temperatures, and more active wildlife. Everglades National Park is about an hour from Miami.
